Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University holds a training course entitled Formation Micro Image (FMI)((Accurate imaging of geological formations))

Within the framework of efforts to enhance technical skills and exchange experiences between the academic and industrial sectors, the Department of Oil and Gas Engineering Techniques at the Engineering Technical College of Petroleum and Energy of the Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, in cooperation with the Continuous Education Unit, organized a specialized training course entitled (Formation Micro Imager), precise imaging of geological formations.

The course aims to raise the efficiency of participants by learning about the FMI device and its advanced uses in analyzing geological formations and recording wells with high accuracy.

Sarah Saleh Mahdi, an engineer at Dhi Qar Oil Company, lectured in the course, where she provided a comprehensive explanation about FMI techniques and how to use the device to photograph well walls and interpret data related to geological formations, with the aim of enhancing understanding and developing participants’ skills.

Course objectives:

• Understand FMI device principles and techniques.

• Develop skills in accurately interpreting images of well walls.

• Improve the ability to make decisions based on data extracted from the device. Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University always seeks, through its various activities, to enhance knowledge and develop the academic and practical competencies of its students and employees. And enhancing cooperation between the university and the oil sector through the exchange of knowledge and experiences to achieve academic and industrial integration.
