The College of Petroleum and Energy Engineering Technology in Al-Muthanna Welcomes Ministerial Committee to Review the Establishment of the Department of Oil & Gas Drilling and Production Engineering Technologies
The College of Petroleum and Energy Engineering Technology in Al-Muthanna received the Ministerial Committee tasked with following up on the project to establish the Department of Oil & Gas Drilling and Production Engineering Technologies, as part of the university’s plan for the 2025–2026 academic year. This initiative supports specialized disciplines that serve the oil sector and meet labor market demands.
The committee was welcomed by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Sabah Mohammed Al-Mutawki, along with the Scientific Assistant, department heads, and faculty members.
During their visit, the committee inspected several key facilities within the college, including:
🔹 Infrastructure prepared to accommodate the proposed specialization.
🔸 Classrooms in terms of space, equipment, and capacity.
🔹 Laboratories and their suitability for the practical aspects of oil and gas drilling and production.
🔸 Support facilities, including administrative and educational services for students and faculty.
The committee expressed satisfaction with the technical and academic readiness, affirming that the available resources meet the requirements for establishing the department and align with the specialized technical studies needed for the oil sector.
The establishment of this department marks a significant step in supporting disciplines that serve the oil industry—a cornerstone of the national economy—while contributing to the development of Al-Muthanna Governorate by creating job opportunities and supporting local development projects.
