
Middle Euphrates Technical University Publishes Its 2024 Annual Titled “Middle Euphrates Technical University Yearbook: Toward Sustainable Pathways”

On the occasion of Anti-Narcotics Week, Professor Dr. Sabah Muhammad Al-Mutuki, Dean of the Technical Engineering College of Petroleum and Energy in Muthanna and the Samawah Technical Institute, received a delegation from the Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control in Muthanna Governorate. He welcomed the visiting delegation and praised the great efforts made by the Directorate in confronting smuggling networks and combating drug trafficking. Drugs, pointing to their great sacrifices embodied in offering martyrs in order to protect society. Dr. Al-Matouki also stressed the importance of cooperation between academic and security institutions in combating this negative phenomenon, which directly affects the health and safety of community members.
The workshop was organized by the Legal Division at the Technical Engineering College of Petroleum and Energy, in cooperation with the Media and Government Communication Divisions at the college and the Samawa Technical Institute, and in coordination with the Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control in Muthanna. The workshop was titled ((Drug control and community protection: prevention and challenges)), in which he lectured Legal Dean Mohammed Hassan Abdel Redha, Assistant Director of the Directorate for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances in Muthanna Governorate, Sheikh Amer Idan Muhammad, religious guidance official.
The workshop was attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and Students at the College, Dr. Sadiq Hassan Al-Kaabi, in addition to the heads of scientific departments in the College and the Institute, and a group of students from various specializations.
The workshop addressed a number of important topics, including:
• Definition of drugs, their types and their harm to the individual and society.
• Sharia and legal aspects related to drug abuse.
• The role of the family and society in detecting cases of addiction and taking appropriate measures.
• The health and psychological effects of drugs, and the importance of spreading awareness of their dangers.
This workshop comes as part of a series of efforts made by Al-Furat Al-Awsat University to educate young people and support them to confront the challenges of this negative phenomenon, with the aim of creating a safe and stable environment that contributes to protecting society.
