
Middle Euphrates Technical University Publishes Its 2024 Annual Titled “Middle Euphrates Technical University Yearbook: Toward Sustainable Pathways”

The Board of Directors of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University held its sixth session for the academic year 2024-2025, in the meeting room on the campus in Kufa, headed by the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Latef Kadhem Al-Zubaidi, in the presence of all members of the Council and hosting a number of directors of the relevant departments.
Al-Zubaidi began the session by welcoming,
Reviewing the directives of His Excellency the Minister in the last opinion body meeting and directing the deans to act according to them
His Excellency the Minister stressed the necessity of:
■ Universities continue to improve the environment and quality of scientific research, international outlook, and other requirements to achieve positive ranks in international rankings.
■ Completing the regulatory procedures to develop preliminary studies and fulfilling the development conditions.
■ Approving the programs of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s plan for national development (2024-2028) in accordance with Cabinet Resolution (24434) of 2024.
■ Organizing intensive and comprehensive media campaigns to eliminate the phenomenon of drug abuse, in cooperation with the Media and Communications Commission, in implementation of the objectives of the National Strategy to Combat Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (2023-2025).
■ Striving to achieve integration with sectoral institutions to achieve their goals and meet their requirements through the development of studies and specialized institutes in vital sectors and fields in a manner consistent with the requirements of society and sustainable development.
■ Striving to include scientific journals within the global repositories in coordination with the relevant departments at the Ministry’s headquarters.
While the President of the University stressed the importance of:
● Field follow-up of the work of the examination committees regarding the first semester examinations for the first stage and preparing the necessary supplies for the success of the examination process.
● Activating the partnership with the labor market, including the private sector, and benefiting from that partnership in updating curricula and developing study programs that meet market requirements.
● Follow up on activities and events related to achieving the sustainable development goals and document those activities and events in a way that enhances the university’s position in local and international classifications.
● Commitment to the specific timings for holding scientific conferences for all university formations inside and outside Iraq.
●Working to revitalize the scientific research movement at the university, emphasizing the implementation of the components of the scientific plan, and conducting periodic follow-up of this important file.
During the council, the topics on the agenda were reviewed, which included qualitative innovations for a number of promising specializations in morning and evening studies (medical, engineering, technological, and administrative) that simulate the needs of the labor market and meet the requirements of society, in addition to discussing the creation of a technical college for limbs and supports, with its departments limbs, medical rehabilitation, and physical therapy.
A number of scientific, administrative and student matters were also discussed, while the necessary recommendations were made regarding them.
